Start your Wrocław mornings at this beloved French-style bakery on Świętego Antoniego. Queue is worth it — order the Croque Madame, fresh bread, and house jams. Open from 7–8 AM depending on the day.

Sight Rynek — Old Market Square

One of the largest medieval market squares in Europe. Stroll the colourful baroque townhouses and spot the bronze dwarfs (krasnoludki) — over 400 hidden across the city! For the stories behind the city’s unusual landmarks, read my Secret Life of Wrocław guide. ℹ Pick up a dwarf map from the tourist info at Rynek 14 — or use the free interactive online map at wromap.pl on your phone to hunt them down as you walk. Over 400 dwarfs are hidden across the city!

Sight Old Town Hall — Muzeum Sztuki Mieszczańskiej

The Gothic town hall (13th–16th c.) dominates the Rynek. Inside is the Museum of Bourgeois Art. The astronomical clock on the façade is stunning at noon.

Sight Kamieniczki “Jaś i Małgosia” & St. Elizabeth’s Church

The twin Gothic “Hansel and Gretel” houses connected by a baroque gate sit right next to the towering St. Elizabeth’s Church. Climb the tower for a panoramic view — 91 metres up.

Sight Plac Solny — Flower Market Square

Just one block from the Rynek, this lovely square has flower stalls open almost around the clock (24/7). A great spot for a stroll before a sweet treat.

Snack Nasza Pączkarnia — Polish Doughnuts

Right near Plac Solny, Nasza Pączkarnia is Wrocław’s most beloved doughnut shop. Their pączki (Polish filled doughnuts) are legendary — try the rose jam or salted caramel. A perfect mid-morning treat before continuing your Old Town walk. Find on Facebook →

Wrocław 3-Day Travel Guide — Essential Travel Tips

Everything you need before you go

🎟 Book ahead Pre-book Racławice Panorama, Kolejkowo, and Aula Leopoldina — they sell out, especially on weekends. Konspira doesn’t take weekend reservations, so arrive early.

💰 Currency Poland uses PLN (złoty), not euros. Most places accept cards, but Bar Mleczny Miś is cash only. ATMs (bankomaty) are plentiful. ~4.2 PLN to €1.

🚋 Getting around Wrocław’s tram network is excellent. Buy tickets at stops or use the Jakdojade app. Much of Day 1–2 is walkable from the Old Town.

🗺 Wrocław Card The Wrocław Tourist Card (24h/48h/72h) includes unlimited public transport and discounted or free museum entry. Worth it for a 3-day visit.

🕐 Museum days off National Museum: closed Mondays. Aula Leopoldina: closed Wednesdays. White Stork Synagogue: closed Saturdays. Plan accordingly.

🎭 Dwarf hunting Over 400 bronze dwarfs (krasnoludki) are hidden across the city. Pick up a map at Rynek 14 or use the “Wrocław Dwarfs” app. Fun for all ages.

🕯 Gas lamplighter Every evening at dusk, a lamplighter (latarnik) walks Cathedral Island lighting the gas street lamps by hand — one of the last such traditions in Europe.

☀️ Best season May–September is ideal. December has a world-class Christmas market on the Rynek. Fountain shows at Centennial Hall run May–October, free every evening.

🗣 Language English is widely spoken in tourist areas. Learning a few words (dziękuję = thank you, proszę = please) is warmly received by locals.

🚂 Day trips Świdnica (Peace Church, ~40 min), Książ Castle (~1 hr), or the Owl Mountains make excellent half-day escapes from Wrocław.
