Savoy Palace - Review

Savoy Palace Hotel is a prestigious five star hotel located in the heart of Funchal, offering exceptional hospitality and a prime location close to many of the city’s main attractions. On the R. Imperatriz Dona Amelia street just a few steps from the hotel, guests will find a wide selection of restaurants and cafés.

Within easy walking distance are Parque de Santa Catarina, home to the statue of Princess Sissi, Casino da Madeira, the Funchal Port, and Gorgulho Beach. Funchal’s historic downtown can also be reached in approximately 20 minutes on foot.

Guests traveling from Madeira Airport can reach the hotel in around 25 minutes by car. As there is no direct public transportation from the airport to the property, renting a car is highly recommended, particularly for those planning to explore the island. Alternatively, taxi services are readily available, and the hotel can arrange a paid shuttle service upon request.

The hotel staff are professional, friendly, and highly attentive, always ready to assist guests with any request. Savoy Palace is a large, modern hotel offering a wide range of room categories to suit different preferences. The rooms are spacious, contemporary, and luxurious, averaging approximately 40 square meters.

Each room is equipped with air conditioning, flat screen television, and complimentary WiFi. Private balconies offer views of either the city or the Atlantic Ocean, and all rooms are well soundproofed, ensuring excellent insulation from external noise.

Savoy Palace provides an impressive range of facilities, including a private beach area, fitness center, sun terrace, four indoor and outdoor swimming pools, library, business center, and a full service spa and wellness center. Families traveling with children will appreciate the dedicated kids’ pool and game room, making the hotel suitable for guests of all ages.

The hotel also features six distinct restaurants, each offering a different culinary concept and dining experience. Guests can enjoy a variety of cuisines, menus, and atmospheres, from refined fine dining to more relaxed settings.

Things to Consider

– Savoy Palace is not an adults only hotel and is particularly well suited for families and groups of friends. Travelers seeking a very quiet or secluded environment may find it less suitable.

– Due to its size and popularity, the hotel can feel busy and lively during the day, although the atmosphere becomes noticeably calmer and more pleasant in the late evening.

– Room rates and restaurant prices can be on the higher side, but this reflects the hotel’s five star standard, extensive facilities, and central location.
