StrandBerg's Designhotel Viktoria - Review
StrandBerg's Designhotel Viktoria - Hotel Review and recommendation

Distance From Berlin Airport
3 Hours by car
Distance From Hannover
1,5 Hours by car
StrandBergs Designhotel Viktoria hotel is located in the heart of Braunlage and offers an excellent base for exploring the Harz Mountains. The hotel is within walking distance of key attractions such as the Spa Park (Kurpark) and the Wurmberg Gondola Lift, which takes visitors directly to the summit of Wurmberg Mountain, the highest peak in Lower Saxony.
During the winter season, when snow conditions allow, guests can also enjoy skiing and winter sports at the nearby Wurmberg ski area (Skigebiet am Wurmberg), making the hotel an ideal choice for both summer and winter stays.
StrandBergs Designhotel Viktoria offers modern and comfortable accommodations with a charming country and modern style touch. Room sizes range from 15 to 35 square meters, while spacious suites vary between 45 and 120 square meters, some suites have even a private sauna.
All rooms and suites are equipped with: Flat-screen TV, private bathroom with shower (no bathtub) and a complimentary WiFi. For a four star hotel, the room and suite rates are considered very reasonable and offer excellent value for money.
Guests traveling from Berlin can reach the hotel in approximately 3 hours by car. Alternatively, the high-speed ICE train from Berlin Central Station (Berlin HBF) takes around 3.5 hours, depending on the connection.
From Hannover, the journey takes about 1.5 hours by car. By regional train or ICE from Hannover Central Station (Hannover HBF), the travel time is approximately 2 hours.
A car is not essential for your stay, as public transportation within the Harz region is reliable and well connected. However, having a car offers greater flexibility if you plan to explore multiple towns and attractions throughout the area.
Things to Consider
– Please note that the hotel does not have an elevator.
– A generous breakfast is offered and is included in most room rates.
– Pets are not allowed
– Air conditioning is generally not necessary due to Germany’s moderate climate, particularly in the Harz Mountains where temperatures are usually cooler. Heating is provided during colder seasons.
– During warmer months, if you prefer to sleep with the window open, you may wish to bring earplugs, as some outside noise can occasionally be heard.
Transparency note: I visited this hotel in person and combined my review with additional research, but did not stay overnight.
