Sardinia rewards slow travel. The northeast holds the islands of La Maddalena and the coves of the Gulf of Orosei, the west has Alghero's Catalan quarter and Neptune's Cave, while the interior keeps its Nuragic ruins, the villages of the Blue Zone and the vineyards behind its Cannonau and Vermentino wines.
Five days on the island is enough for a beach day, a boat trip out to the islands and a wine stop — with one hotel as your base. The three Sardinian hotel reviews are further down this page.
