Stockholm spreads across islands, which makes getting around half the pleasure: ferries, bridges and a waterfront in every direction from Gamla Stan.

It is a comfortable city break of three or four days, with two hotel reviews to choose from and an easy day trip to Uppsala that deserves a day of its own.
